Programs to heritage origins
Religious orders embody, preserve and pass on the evangelical charisms and vision of their founders when they sponsor travel of parishes, hospitals, schools, universities, and social agencies.
One of the ways orders and institutions can instill a greater awareness, appreciation and living out of the mission of the order is to sponsor seminars and heritage tours to places influential in the life and ministry of the founder or other individuals historically associated with the order.
These programs deepen knowledge of the order’s original vision and rule of life, nurture the spirit of participants as they celebrate liturgy in historical and religious venues. These venues are often where the founding saint had his or her original religious epiphany. These experiences broaden perspectives about how best to bring to life the original vision of the founder in our contemporary world.
Some examples of heritage programs include:
- Jesuit Institutions: The Heritage of Ignatius of Loyola in Spain and Rome
- Dominican Institutions: The Early Dominicans in Southern France or Thomas Aquinas’s early life in Naples & Rome (See new information about the 800th Anniversary of the Dominicans)
- Franciscan Institutions: The Heritage of St. Francis and St. Clare in Assisi
- Benedictine Institutions: Historical Benedictine Monasteries of Europe
