Peace and reconciliation through dialogue

On November 12, 2009, the Charter for Compassion is being launched to people around the world.  A council of interfaith and multi-national religious leaders has worked together to develop a model or charter that would reflect the centrality of compassion and respect at the core of our world religious traditions.  So often, religions are seen as sources of conflict, intolerance and inhospitality.  These leaders have underscored the sources within the world religious traditions that call practitioners to compassion and respect and hope to inspire world religions to contribute to the creation of a world that is built on justice, understanding, respect, hospitality, and compassion. For some thirty years now, Illume has been working with people from across the United States and around the world creating global travel programs to help transform individuals and organizations.  We collaborate with pastoral and educational leaders to create programs that involve travel to places of great historical and religious significance where people of different faith traditions can develop new awareness, understanding, knowledge and, most importantly, compassion and respect.

Ecumenical programs that include dialogue between Roman Catholics and Evangelical, Reform, and Anglican Christians include opportunities in historically relevant venues in Rome, Canterbury, and cities in Germany, Switzerland and Scotland.
