Participate in the world community
Colleges, universities, and other academic institutions are increasingly finding that travel seminars/study tours are an integral component to a complete educational experience. Engagement with other cultures, languages, artistic and architectural masterpieces, and historical sites, deepens and broadens one's humanity, helps to give greater definition to one's own cultural and historical particularity, and prepares one to participate in the world community.
Short intensive study tours accommodate traditional age students as well as graduate students, adult learners, and those in professional education programs (such as theology/ministry, architectural design, management, and public/foreign policy) who do not ordinarily have access to semester-long study abroad programs. Study tours afford opportunity to continue earning academic credit in a relaxed and non-traditional learning environment.
Illume offers a full range of resources to support study abroad offices, faculty and administrators who organize international travel events. These include:
- Resident and Consulting Scholars for thoughtful and innovative program development;
- Experienced integration of curriculum with travel services;
- Production of electronic on-line travel resource center exclusive to each program;
- Facilitation of special requests/visits to restricted sites;
- Local professional tour managers;
- Specialists and expert guides;
- Preview tours and site visits;
- Complimentary travel and stipends for group organizers.
Illume collaborates with scholars/administrators to design and facilitate faculty development seminars in a variety of destinations, venues and around various academic disciplines. Learn more
We coordinate international programs for trustees and benefactors of educational institutions. These include programs exploring institutional heritage - such as Franciscan, Dominican, Vincentian, Benedictine and Jesuit colleges/universities - and those that include meetings and seminars in places of great historical, cultural and religious significance that underscore and reinforce the mission of the institution.
Illume maintains collaborative partnerships in European and Mediterranean countries, in Asia, Africa & Latin America. These relationships provide a seamless platform for program development and coordination, ensuring programs that meet and exceed the vision organizers have for their events. Our expertise includes religious studies, classical studies, international business, health care ethics, art history, foreign language, history, literature, and other disciplines in the humanities.
