Study abroad for adult learners in a global community
Study abroad is increasingly regarded as an integral part of post-secondary education. It is an important way for students to experience first hand the historical and artistic treasures of their own and others' civilizations, to broaden perspectives through encounters with other cultures and belief systems, and to cultivate a greater understanding of themselves as members of a pluralistic and interrelated global community.
Adult learners typically do not have access to traditional study abroad programs. We have developed a series of short-term study abroad programs to provide this opportunity. These programs enable degree and non-degree seeking adult students (and their traveling companions) to combine a short-term study abroad experience with the earning of academic credit and time away from work. It's like taking the classroom on vacation.
Students spend a limited amount of time away from work or home as the programs are designed with the adult learner's professional and family life commitments in mind. They are able to maintain momentum in earning college credit and enjoy the benefits of encountering other cultures and historical treasures in a stimulating and academically enriching environment. Traveling companions of students and noncredit lifelong learners are also welcome to participate in our programs.
Short-term study abroad programs for adult learners can be customized for your institutional and curricular needs.
We have developed three select programs that can be adopted by your institution. These three programs have been reviewed academically and have been awarded three undergraduate academic credits through Charter Oak State College in Connecticut. Contact us for more information.
