Father Jay Peterson invites you to join him in Rome for an exploration of its historical, cultural and religious treasures.  Father Peterson studied in Rome and is eager to share an insider’s knowledge of this enchanting city.  The customized and rich program includes guided visits with Illume’s local expert guides and daily liturgy in historical venues.  The hotel selected is a first-class hotel in the historical center affording easy access to cafes, restaurants, shops, and other sites during leisure time.  A day excursion to Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis, is planned as well. Program highlights include an exploration of the Roman context of early Christianity in the Roman Forum, a walking tour of the historic center of Rome, visit to the Vatican Museums and the excavations under St. Peter’s (subject to confirmation), and a visit to the spectacular Borghese Gallery with breathtaking Bernini sculptures.  The program includes a group flight out of Great Falls with options to book your own flight in order to go early, stay longer, or use your own frequent flyer miles.  Come join us for a memorable and inspiring journey.

Tuesday, May 31, 2022
Depart on overnight flight to Rome.

Wednesday, June 1, 2022
Arrival Rome.  Our tour manager will meet us at the airport and accompany us to our city-center hotel.  Depending on time of arrival and availability of rooms, we will check-in.  If rooms are not ready, we will have a little free time to explore, get some coffee or a snack, and then get into rooms later.  Mid-afternoon, we will enjoy a walking tour of some of the major sites of the central historical district including the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, and the Trevi Fountain.  Later, we will gather together for a welcome dinner.  Overnight Rome.

Thursday, June 2, 2022
Breakfast. Exploration of the Roman Context of Early Christianity.  Today we will begin with Mass at Santa Maria Sopra Minerva.  We continue with a walking tour of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.  We will break for lunch (included) and then visit the Colosseum. Return to hotel with late afternoon/evening free. Overnight Rome.

Friday, June 3, 2022
Breakfast.  Guided visit to St. Paul Outside the Walls and the Catacombs with Mass in Catacombs.  Afternoon at leisure (tour manager can propose some optional tours). Evening free.   Overnight Rome.

Saturday, June 4, 2022
Breakfast.  Early Mass at St. Peter's Basilica followed by a guided visit to the Scavi.  Include a light lunch in the area then guided visit to the Vatican Museums.  Evening at leisure.  Overnight Rome.

Sunday, June 5, 2022
Breakfast. Morning Mass at Santa Maria Maggiore with a short visit to this historic basilica.  Continue to St. Peter's Square for the noon blessing of the Pope.  Afternoon and evening at leisure (tour manager can propose some optional tours).  Overnight Rome.

Monday, June 6, 2022
Breakfast.  Day Excursion to Assisi.  Visit the Convento di San Damiano with Mass.  Visit San Francesco and Santa Chiara.  Include lunch and some free time to shop/stroll through the town.  Return to Rome with evening free/overnight.

Tuesday, June 7, 2022
Breakfast.  Morning guided visit to the Borghese Gallery.  Afternoon at leisure with some optional tours proposed by the tour manager.  Farewell liturgy at a location to be determined (perhaps Casa Santa Maria or San Ignazio).  Farewell dinner at a local restaurant.  Overnight Rome.

Wednesday, June 8, 2022
Breakfast.  Transfer to airport for return flight to Great Falls.

Roundtrip flights between Great Falls and Rome, 7-nights accommodations in a centrally located hotel, breakfast daily, 3 lunches at local restaurants with limited beverages, 2 dinners at local restaurants with beverages, local transportation via deluxe motorcoach, a full-time local tour manager and guide, and entrances and guided visits per the itinerary

Please note: Single rooms for single use are limited to 10% of the total number of rooms reserved. Should additional single rooms be requested, hotels may impose a higher supplement of $750 for all single rooms. If you have selected double occupancy but no roommate is available due to uneven numbers or if your roommate should cancel you will be in a single room and responsible for the single room supplement.

All prices listed are discounted for payment by check. When paying with a credit card, you will be charged the standard base price, which is 5% higher.

All program prices are based on availability of services at the time registration material is received; currency exchange rates in effect September 23, 2021—and on 2021 land and air tariffs—and are subject to change. All services are provided subject to Illume’s Conditions and Clauses.

The program prices will be reviewed before the invoices for the final payment are mailed, and will reflect the current prices.

A second non-refundable deposit of $2000 per person due not later than: January 15, 2022

Balance of payment due not later than: March 2, 2022

Note: Any changes to the program will be outlined in the final documents which you will receive one month prior to departure. If changes are made that affect the program price, you will receive an invoice or a credit accordingly.
